03.13.10: Baneberry 5k Chili Run
This was truly an amazing race. There were 52 finishers, which is not bad for a first-time race, but then when one considers that it was thrown together in 1½ months, there wasn't time to properly advertise it (it made the SFTC schedule but not the KTC's - its only mention was an M.B. post J. Smyth made week-of), & the fact that rain was forecast (the actual weather conditions were far better - a bit windy at times but sunny for the most part), that number gets very impressive indeed. The chili competition afterwards gave runners and others a chance to sample some great postrace food and a great time seemed to be had by all. My compliments to Doug Swiggum & John Smyth for a job well done and very quickly. Looking forward to seeing how big this race gets with more time to advertise it.
