02.12.11: Straw Plains ½-Marathon
One of several races I look forward to every year. A little on the chilly side sometimes, but it's still closer to home, starts later, and draws a bigger crowd than most. The weather this year was a bit cool (surprise surprise it's February) but otherwise near perfect - sunny and not more than a few clouds in the sky. As usual a veritable post-race feast awaited the runners (Including great shortbread cookies with icing on the side) and good time appeared to be had by all.
At the front, Austin Ellis took the top spot, with brothers Bradley & Bob Adams 2 & 3, respectively. The front of the women's field was a sea of orange, as Danielle Mitchell, Amanda Loughlin, & Janey Robinson, all from Milligan College, went 1-2-3. With Open, Women, & Masters all competing in the 10k, the only team competition here was Corporate. As DENSO was the only team running, they obviously won with no trouble at all.
