07.25.09: Karns 'Run to the Fair' 5k

The kickoff to the Karns community Fair, this is a great race. Held at Karns High School, the race started & finished on the track around the football field. This also meant spectators could sit in the grandstands and have a great view of the finish. It was also surprising how quickly things heated up - it was pleasant in the sun at race start, but about 15 minutes later it was just flat-out hot.

Michael Spooner shattered the old course record, finishing in 14:53. Stewart Ellington & Chad Newton were 2-3. Katie Flaute was the women's winner in 18:18, with Jasmine Keller & Joanna Thompson rounding out the top-3. There was only one team category, and this was a hotly contested one, with All Kreatures & Runner's Market pulling out all the stops to win. In the end, All Kreatures won the team competition.
