01.16.11: Dirty Dozen Doozy 8k
One of my favorites - afternoon start, wide-open course, very low-key, and a lot of fun overall. The weather this year was the best in the history of this race, combining the best elements of the two previous years - the mid-40's temperatures of 2010 and the sunny skies of 2009. Additionally, lots of snow and rain the preceding weeks made the soccer field VERY wet (also like 2010), with 2-3" of standing water pretty much everywhere, which only adds to the preceding "a lot of fun overall".
The male winner was Stewart Ellington (he's won every Dirty Dozen to date - 3 so far), and Foot Locker H.S. All-American Joanna Thompson won the women's side. Top Masters pair were Craig Schwartz & Laura Gearhiser.
