06.30.12: Lakeshore Trail Trek

With temps right at 80º at race start (90º+ before any of the 9-milers finished) and humidity very high, this was one of the hottest races in KTC history. I actually considered running the shorter option, but the combination of the heat, the cost (pre-registration is $10, day-of $15), and the distance (I had never done more than a 5k) talked me out of it. In spite of the heat & humidity, both races had good participation (9 mile had 69 & the 4+ mile 33), no one got heat stroke, and a good time seemed to be had by all.

Andrew Smith was the 9-mile winner; with Luke Bollschweiler & Travis Wilson two-three. Kathy Smith, Sarah Crowley, and Susan Roberts were the top three women (pretty close women's race - only 1:45 separated #1 from #3). In the "4+ mile" race the top men were Daniel Thorresen, Mark Rupinski, and Chris Bossert. Kelly Fox won the women's race, with Jessica Brackett & Sarah Bowden second and third, respectively.
